A++. This was a very informative book. It is young adult format and vocabulary, but just as interesting for adults like me!It gives you the background to the whole story from the real Laura Ingalls, from her memory. anyone who has seen the program or read any of the books needs to check this out.i am a retired middle school librarian and this book is perfect for that age group.It is a true peek into the real pioneer days, how families lived, ate, games they played. Also a touch of the really dangerously brutal part, like a woman giving birth alone in a cabin in the vast wilderness....no details to upset younger ones.I strongly recommend this book. Read it with your daughter, your grand daughter, or just for yourself.
Very interesting and a quick read. So nice to get the adult perspective on her life story. I also bought the annotated autobiography, but it is a massive hardcover. This book would be great for taking on a plane as it's light and only takes a few hours to read.
Okay I wanted the NEW book but it was too spendy, so I settled for this, which was not bad, then the new one got the Pulitzer, so, go figure, anyway this one is good, it tells of her travels, marriage, has excerpts, it does the job, very functional book, well written.
What an excellent book. I am reading it right now with so much pleasure....I love Little House and especially the true stores of the pioneer days, such as Laura's....I look forward to receiving the Ingalls Christmas video for Christmas this year and plan on purchasing Melissa Gilberts book on playing Laura.......
Very interesting, historical read. I was delighted to get to know more about the lady behind the TV show "Little House on the Prairie" and her growing up/adult years. This woman actually lived from Wagon Trains to Airplanes, what a fascinating life and time to live in.
One of the must-reads for those interested in Laura Ingalls Wilder and her life, times and perspectives.I also recommend the incomparable annotated autobiography, a wonderful resource and product and, of course, the great stories.of the childhoods of Laura and her siblings and Almanzo's as well.Truly touching and rrefreshing. It's hard to add any more to the volumes of enthusiasm for the Little House books and their context.
This was a fantastic read. It brought more details and truths than the Little House Books. If you like Laura and her stories, you will love this book.
This is a great overall biography of Laura's life. You will learn new facts that are not in the Little House books. One of my favorites!
