Raza Pasha, MD is a Board Certified Ear, Nose, and Throat-Head and Neck Surgeon with extensive training and research experience. He is a sole author of a highly rated comprehensive review book on his specialty. To receive certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology, Dr. Pasha completed an undergraduate degree, four years of medical school, and five years of specialty training. Dr. Pasha has been published in many medical journals and completed research in many institutions, including The Cleveland Clinic, Texas Medical Center, Detroit Medical Center, and Ohio State University. His has also published a review book on Ear, Nose, and Throat-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Pasha is a strong advocate for patient education. He believes that maximal therapeutic benefit occurs when patients understand their diagnoses and therapy.Justin S. Golub, MD, is an assistant professor of otology/neurotology/skull base surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Columbia University. He completed a fellowship in neurotology at the University of Cincinnati and a residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Washington. He obtained his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. During his training, he has completed research fellowships at the University of Washington and the Georgia Institute of Technology. In the third Kai Gracen book Kai is still the tough stalker who seems to come to everyone's rescue. He's starting to open up with his feelings more and not be so standoffish. Ryder still wants Kai to be with him and have an intimate relationship and Kai is still unsure. Kai has to come to accept that things change and there's things he can't prevent no matter how hard he tries. Ryder's cousin Kerrick comes to challenge for the position of Lord of San Diego's Southern Rise Court, which rubs Kai all kinds of wrong but doesn't seem to really phase Ryder. Kai is asked to go on a mission to bring back some Sidhe children and Ryder and Kerrick decide to go with him. They have challenges to overcome during the mission, including treachery from one of their own. Most of the challenges would have been bypassed if the people on the rescue mission would just listen to Kai; after all he's the one with the experience.This is a well written book. No noted grammar or spelling errors. I did like the story but like the two previous books there are places where the scenes are too drawn out and for me it dragged the story down. I had to fight not to skim pages. This may not be an issue with others though. Kai also can't seem to let himself have a relationship with Ryder, even though he wants to. He's also sexually attracted to others and he fights this as well. It's like he can't let himself trust anyone intimately and maybe be happy. I liked the continuing saga of Kai Gracen and look forward to the next book.

Although Rhys Ford is well known for her many series and stand-alone books in the genres of mm romance and mm paranormal romance, she proves herself to be a superior author of straight up urban fantasy in her Kai Gracen series.The series is set in an alt-SoCal world in and around San Diego, in which, some decades in the past, a fantastical world full of magic has catastrophically incurred upon this world. This has resulted in a drastically changed landscape and the entry of dragons and other beasts thought to have been of legend, as well as the Sidhe and Unsidhe races.In other words, elven peoples.After a long period of war between humans and elven, the Kai Gracen series takes place in a time of uneasy peace, when the races of human and Sidhe are figuring out how to coexist.Our (anti)hero Kai is the almost obligatory pissed-off half-breed, as is found in so many urban fantasies, this time, half human and half elf. He is despised and misunderstood by most, and keeps an uneasy friendship with a choice few Sidhe, humans, and one irascible cat.The books' first-person narrative is in the endlessly interesting and enjoyable voice of Kai, who is by turns funny, sad, angry, snarky, jaded, and full of heart. He is a prickly character, but over the course of the series he slowly reveals to us the sources of his anger and cynicism. Kai is a wise observer of the world around him, he does not suffer fools gladly, he does everything he can to protect the vulnerable, and, through his narration, Ms. Ford works in a few lovely statements about social justice and treatment of others. Although Kai may think himself impossible to love, we, the readers, can't help but find him loveable.At least I do.If you're anything like me, part of the joy of fantasy reading is stepping into new worlds that exist in the imagination of the author. Ms. Ford's world building is superb. She takes the time to describe city settings, landscapes, creatures, food, societal customs, commerce, and governmental agencies that have grown up in this strange new post-"Merge" environment, and I'm glad she does. Her imagination is mind-boggling, and the result is a deeply realized, fascinating world. Frequent readers of Rhy Ford's other works will recognize and dig her familiarity with Hawaiian and Asian cultures, and there are many words tossed into conversations that are borrowed from various Asian languages, as well as words from Celtic mythology. (Happily, she's included a glossary.)Characters, too, are expertly, three dimensionally, drawn, and there are several welcome and not-so-welcome returning characters from the previous two KG books, including Dempsey, Ryder (with whom Kai has some recurring romantic fireworks, but no overtly physical stuff; strictly PG13), Cari, Alexa, and the cat Newt. There are also a few intriguing new characters, whom I suspect will be around for a while to come.As in the first two of the series, this adventure is in the form of a "run", in which Kai, a "Stalker", hunter of dragons and grotesque and evil black dogs, as well as all around badass-for-hire, is tasked with a mission to rescue a refugee elven woman who is fleeing to save herself and three elven children. Along the way there are daring escapes, close calls, gun fights, car (well, truck) chases, unbelievable monsters, and a little bit of soul searching on the part of Kai and his companions, all narrated in Kai's own distinctive, colorful voice.To fans of urban fantasy, I can't recommend this series enough. If you like Sandman Slim, Dresden Files, or Cal Leadros, pick up this series, beginning with Black Dog Blues. You'll be SO GLAD you did.

This is my favorite Rhys Ford series and I was afraid she would never come back to it. Now that she has, I desperately hope she continues the series without leaving so much time between books. Kai is my favorite character of hers, snarky and fiercely independent, able to fight through agony and come out swinging, dedicated to doing the right thing in his own rough way in a world that doesn’t reward such behavior. The secondary characters are just as good, each a vibrant, distinct personality. Ford’s writing is vivid and poetic and always leads me wishing more genre writers had her flair for creative description. This was every bit as good as the first two, and leaves several questions to be answered, so please, Rhys, keep writing this series!

I really love this series, and the latest installment was no exception. The plot was well developed, and build well on what has come before. The new character brought a lot to the story, and I like how his presence helped the relationships with the characters build and grow. I like the tension between Kai, and Ryder, and that there are actual factors and considerations keeping them apart, and not just some artificial tension. The ending was well done, and while it left me wanting the next book it didn't feel like a cliff hanger either. Another really well done urban fantasy from one of my favorite authors.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Kai is my spirit animal. The Kai Gracen series was my introduction to Rhys Ford's writing. From the first chapter of the first book, I was hooked. I've read all of her work that is available and I haven't looked back or regretted a single moment. Ford's ability to create a believable, intricate and complicated world and fill it with engaging, complicated and believable characters.. no, people.. is without par. The Kai Gracen series is a perfect example.

This 3rd book really pushes the main characters development. We see Kai learning about the fragility of human life, watching his human father deal with terminal disease. His grudging acceptance of Ryder and Ryder’s place in his life moving forward with the Elfin court. Ryder also is developing a better understanding of Kai’s point of view and his future with Kai. Ford introduces several new story arcs with the meeting of Dusk Court lord and news Kai’s brother survived his fall from the first book. Read this series from the beginning to watch the evolution of Kai and Ryder. This is a great Urban SF series with unconventional MCs.

If you are a new coffee fanatic, and are in to roasting your own coffee and wanting to learn all you can about coffee, go ahead and purchase this book, Pendergrast does a pretty good job of covering the coffee world from harvest to cup, and it is in an easy to read format. But I must say, I felt it was basically a "Cliff Note" of the all encompassing "Coffee Bible" that William H. Uker wrote almost a hundred years ago. Ukers book is titled "All About Coffee", and is the acknowledged complete work of every aspect of the coffee world. You can sometimes find the out of print book on Ebay, but it is usually over $150 for a worn out copy! I found that you can go to "Project Gutenberg" on the web and read the entire book, with all the full color hand drawn pictures, absolutely free of charge! Do it! You won't regret it!

I bought this book for my own information -- I've been a black coffee drinker for c. 60 years, and a real coffee aficionado for the past 15 years or so. The book's size and amount of information are almost overwhelming, and yet the author's clear, reader-friendly, nearly conversational writing style make it as much a "page-turner" as a good mystery novel. He covers the history, geography, economics, and complex sociology & politics of all aspects of this world-wide industry so completely as to make this work a textbook, nay, a one-volume college course. From Asia, Africa, and the Americas, to Starbuck's, Folgers, Maxwell House and everything in the U.S., it's all here. HIGHLY recommended!!

Probably the best historical book written about coffee as the author somehow made a factual compilation an easy read. The first half of the book was particularly entertaining. This book remains in my small library and I have used it as a reference several times. I have also purchased a few copies as gifts for friends.

Wow! This book really delves into behind the scene dealings of coffee companies extending into the darker aspects of government interventions in the exploitation of foreign nations' resources. Loaded with fun facts and pertinent information. I bought it for my dad for Christmas. He's a coffee lunatic and collects Chase & Sanborn vintage coffee tins.

It got more into the corporate battles than was my interest, but some folks may enjoy that. The history of coffee is a fascinating subject, for me.

I was wandering in Ethiopia when the curiosity about coffee was borned. I am a Brazilian but never looked deep into the story and history of coffee. This book is a piece of beauty as gives a tremendous parallel in between thes tory and the history of the world since coffee invention.

A well-written and informative book overall. Though I must echo the comments of other readers that state that it focuses more on the Americas. Having said that, it would have had to be a very long book to cover the world history of coffee. The book had some great parts which were very interesting (for example how America became addicted to drinking stale, packaged coffee in the 20th century) and parts that were less riveting (the incessant ups and downs of global coffee prices). Overall, I don't regret the purchase at all, it was a good read that left me with a much better understanding of coffee.

Learning Spanish as an adult is difficult and can be tedious, especially when most teaching and learning materials are designed for grammar school kids. As opposed to "Dick and Jane" antics, these books are historical novels depicting the ancient history of spanish speaking civilizations -this adds a crucial element of sophistication to the learning process and makes me much more eager to read them. The exercises for each "Capitulo" are challenging and a true test of comprehension. I plan to order more in the series once I'm finished wiht La ciudad de los dioses.

This series is perfect for the intermediate-advanced reader. As beginners, we started with the Pobre Ana books by Blaine Ray. After reading those 11 books, these are a great next step. They are a little "dark" depending upon the ages of your kids, but are fine for adults. After the Blaine Ray books, my kids read through La Casa del Arbol (Magic Treehouse) series…. it is hard to find great books for learning Spanish but these are pretty good. The Leer y Aprender books are okay, but have quite a lot of older Spanish or more Spain-Spanish, which for us was not good since we are in South America. The Leer En Español books are great and reasonably interesting and well written for adults. Highly recommend!

I have all of the level 1 books in this series. I've just started listening/reading level 2. Fun stories and very helpful.

Super excited about this book. Have used it for 20 years. Mine was so worn I thought I would check if Amazon had it and they did. New book has updated illustrations, and lots of new activities. Also think the CD will be a great asset!

Great book. The author breaks down the material very simple. If your a complete novice it will help you. I have 10+ years on repairing computers, first time going after a cert. I have my college degree. But needed to get this cert along with others to prove to other potential employers I know my stuff.I purchased this book on 5/18/16 and used the software to test myself to see where I needed to focus on. Then after the practice exam I scheduled the 220-901 exam in 2 weeks. 6-11-16 Week 1 study 2 chapters every evening and did the quizzes. At the end of week 1, i did the practice exam and saw an improvement in score. Repeat for 2nd week and score a little higher. Went in and passed 220-901 exam, minimum score is 675/900 I scored 800.Repeated the same process with 220-902 exam. 6-24-16 Minimum score to pass was 700/900 and my score was 757. Knocked this out in 1 month time. Keep in mind I don't have kids, wife, gf or other distractions to hold me back. Just saying what worked for me.

I passed the second exam with this book yesterday and am happily certified.I would recommend using this book if you are looking for a more "straight to the point" study guide and already have a fair knowledge of the topics. However, I recommend researching these individual exams on the CompTIA website for more information. The CompTIA website is awesome and will tell you what topics are covered in each exam, it helps you get an idea of where you stand after you have read through the book. Also, use the bonus questions that are located online. The CD that came with my book had software to login to the practice questions, but the software failed to login when I would attempt to do so. Then, I had to go online for the new version of the login software to view the practice questions (Heads up). Finally, I just followed the directions instructor Prowse suggest in these reviews and in his book.

Mr. Prowse is witty, at times funny and really knows what he's talking about from his years of experience. His books were recommended to me by my A+ Certification instructor. Use this book and the Professor Messer videos on Youtube and you'll be more than ready for your A+ Certification exam.

Excellent book. Dry, but it has the answers to all the questions you could have for the A+ exam. Just get it. Personally, I glossed over all the stuff I was very familiar with and studied the more specific things where I was lacking. It has everything you need to pass! I don't have any other books to compare this to, but I didn't need them as this was plenty thorough for the A+ exam.

If you are studying for this exam, please understand that the exam objectives are not separated by the book itself, and so as you study for each exam you need to pick and chose the relevant sections of the book..it's kind of a pain unless you want to take both exams on the same day or study ofr both at the same time, which I do not advise...you should concentrate on ONE at a time to maximize your chances of passing.

This book was fantastic for exactly what it says. Cramming. The rip out sheets were the best portion for some basic memorization. I have to credit it at least a bit for helping me pass the 901 and 902 on the same day 2 weeks after I started studying. GOing to buy the exam cram for Network+ and Security+ when I go for those.

Great book. Now, If I can just pass the exams! I did have the 701 and 702 books but never took the exam. This "Cram" book is great. Don't let the title fool you. It might be a "cram" book but it is "full" of material that I feel will help you pass your A+ exams. Good luck. This book is worth the price and Amazon made it even more affordable.

I'm using this in conjunction with tutorial videos, to increase the odds of passing the exam. I like the way the book is broken down into sections, and how easy it is to understand. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to increase their knowledge.

This is not a light read! If you're unhappy with the current economic state and wonder if there's a different approach we should be taking; or if you're disgruntled with how the Federal Reserve manages our currency, then this is a must read to understand how economics really works. While not a light read, it is very understandable. It's on the dry side and omits lots of the political commentary you would expect in such a book. The author doesn't have an axe to grind, he just goes about informing on how economies really work. It's more like a college text book, except this one you'll enjoy reading because there's no deadlines to finish reading it and no quiz at the end!My only regret is that I bought it for my Kindle. I think this is one of those books that best read in paper so you can easily flip and forth between pages and write in the margins. There's a lot of content and terminology. Since it builds chapter by chapter I found myself asking, "what does that mean again?" or flipping back because I really didn't understand a concept like I first thought.It's a good read if you're serious about understanding an alternative economic path.If you're a Keynesian, this book is not for you!

This book is so well researched and written that it's a shame to not include this book in anyone's library. After reading this book I was so inspired by Rothbard's immense study and research and you can tell how much effort was put into this "life work" just by reading the footnotes and bibliography at the end of the book. I have read a few books from Rothbard but this one surpasses the others due to it's far reaching study of so many economic thoughts and problems. I'll be honest, I was more impressed with the beginning of the book but nonetheless it was a tremendous book on the huge subject of economics. It's certaintly not for the beginning student of economics but this book makes you think and that's the most important feature. In summary, a must read.

Rothbard's Man, Economy, and State with Power and Market is by far the greatest investment I have ever made. Eager with the current climate to learn a bit more about Economics I did some browsing and sifted through, though lightly, some other reading but never quite got into it. I then, like many others, came across Milton Friedman and fell in love with his passion for 'freedom'. I started this book after bouncing around online and coming across[...] and hearing some YouTube Rothbard lectures. To tell you the truth I bought it for the size and price, I figured I'd be an expert in no time.I really underestimated what a treasure this book would be. Rothbard assumes no prior knowledge and walks you through economic theory from isolated man, to barter, to modern monetary economics and then goes through many deeper issues in Government from minimum wage and child labor.In all cases Rothbard doesn't get too complicated or throw equations at you and I believe anyone could easily read and understand this book, though I will tell you the truth some dedication is required. It's almost as if blinds open and you learn how to think and you see the world, and especially it's governments and their economic policies, in a different light all backed by logic and sound reasoning.This book will be one of your greatest investments and will only leave you craving more.Other Recommendations:Socialism by Ludwig von MisesHuman Action by Ludwig von MisesEconomics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt[...] is a great resource set up by Tom Woods which provides some suggestions for further reading you can get here on Amazon.

This is a deep, engrossing analysis of economic theories that you need a background in economics to muddle through; that being said, it is fascinating. Rothbard, who is affiliated with the Mises Institute that is in favor of a form of the Austrian school of economics formed around the writings of Ludwig von Mises, is an excellent writer, and explains even the most intricate subjects well enough that even I, certainly not an economist of Mr. Rothbard's standing, was quite able to follow along. I recommend this book highly to anyone who is totally baffled by what is supposed to be happening with the economy that isn't. That includes Janet Yellen, I believe.

Requires patience. The author starts with very basic, nearly absurdly simplistic, economic systems and explanations of human action (literally one man on an island) and slowly builds up to more and more complex systems and greater and greater variability in individual choice (though the concept is there right from the beginning), and concludes with the implications of this slow, and supremely logical, outline of how people interact--even when they aren't being rational or logical themselves. The premises are solid and the logic is flawless. I strongly recommend this book if you want to understand how economics works. It won't show you what is "wrong" with current systems, it will show you only the consequences of those systems.

Not much I can say about this book that hasn't already been said. The only thing I will add is that I'm sure many who look at its length and content think that it is just too much or that there is no benefit in diving into such a tome. I know I did.I can now state, however, after working through the whole book, that I was wrong and that it was well worth my time. Do yourself a favor and read the whole thing, as you will find numerous points of explanatory power for multiple areas of life.

This is by far the best defense of Austrian economics. Rothbard was a amazing story teller,much like Thomas Sowell, which helps break down how an economy works in layman terms. Despite being an intimidating 1500 pages,I actually enjoyed this more then Mises Human Action. Thank you Mises Institute for including Power and Market at the end of the book. At less than $20 dollars, this was an absolute steal and was the best investment I have ever made.
