This book was something I'd looked forward to but wasn't quite able to read for more years than I care to count. The reason being; emotions. Far too many for far too long. I was a young American who loved all kings of music and was determined to delve into other parts of the world to find it. I discovered Inxs through an Aussie pen pal. (Yes, back when we actually wrote letters to send around the world, waiting weeks to hear back) She sent me a cassette tape of Underneath the Colours and I immediately became obsessed. I spent years hoping this band would come to the US and when they finally did, it was one of the greatest shows I'd ever seen. I bought all of their albums over the subsequent years and saw them countless times in concert. I even spent 1987-88 following them all over the Eastern Us.Inxs for me, sounded like no other band, even though I had tons of favorites besides them. Their dynamic couldn't be copied. Their energy couldn't be harnessed. And I absolutely adored them for it.When Michael Hutchence died, I was devastated. I loved every member of the band an third contributions. But he, well..he was incredibly special to me. I met him in a bar in Va Beach. He was the most fun insane, and brutally sexy creature I'd ever come across. It was brief and alcohol laden, ending with passing out on a beach. Which of course, it turns out I had no idea until this book, he was prone to. I'll never forget it.For years after he died, I mourned quietly with my friends who had also indulged in their love for all things Inxs. I paid no attention to the rumors and tumultuous press that hounded the music papers and rumor mags. None of it mattered to because we had lost an icon that could never be replaced, regardless of the reasons behind it.And then along came the MTV show that was about to replace that icon. I was furious. And I was bitterly sad. But somehow a friend convinced me to watch and thus...J.D was incarnated into the band I'd always loved. I have to admit that I liked him, (his voice and swagger) though I thought he was an arrogant sod and never could bring myself to see them in concert again.A few years ago (2014) I heard about the mini series on Showtime about Inxs. I watched it and found myself singing along and shedding tears that I thought long dry. It was brilliantly fun but heart wrenching. And it brought back many fond memories of a youth long gone. Back when music was still thrilling an unique.So then I finally decided to read this book. And I wasn't the least bit disappointed. It's written well and is packed with wonderful information and insight into the musical love of my life that was Inxs. Thank you SO much for a definitive literate occount of the boys from Down Under who stole my heart and many others. Their music is still phenomenal to this day and stands the test of time better than most. Give this a read. Not only as a musical biography but also if you're a fan. It's well worth the time.And Michael? We miss you to this day. I hope you found the paradise you always deserved!

Excellent read! I bought this book because I was interested in the band, not just Michael. I've heard and read some of the Michael stories, but from my experience, and I worked in the music industry from 79 to the early 90s when I left to enter Cable TV, no one knows the real story of a musician like his/her bandmates. Families have insight on their upbringing up to the point where they leave home for fame and fabulousness. But are clueless of what their dear child or sibling becomes during that journey. That's been proven a million times over by recollections from members of The Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, The Runaways, G&R and even The Jam. Nobody knows the true highs and lows, trials and excesses like the band. I've always admired the Farriss brothers and their immense talent. Unlike most, although I love Hutch with his sensual charisma and voice, believe their contribution was just as major along with Kirk and Garry. All their humble beginnings and their tenacity to success is the stuff rock n roll dreams are made of. Of course, there are the would of, should of, could of moments to their stories. But we all have them in life. No one could forsee the fall that would cause changes to Hutches personality and cause a spiral that would effect all band members. The drama that would crack the fabric of their relationships and the end of beautiful music that was yet to be made. However, they still left a legacy of wonderful work that stands the test of time. Thank you for sharing.

Only a good read if you're a devoted fan. Otherwise not much of interest. Quite a self indulgent book and I agree that they could've gone into further depth in some areas. Cheesy rock cliches on nearly every page, one paragraph is just a transcription of an AC/DC song. I know how these rock bands behaved in their era, it's no surprise. But the incessant bragging about drug and groupie exploits was distasteful, especially considering the effect it had on Michael (who these days would probably be classed as a sex addict).I've long had a love hate feeling towards this band. They were my favourite group at one time and soundtrack to my growing up. I'm Australian and first saw then when I was 12 on Live Aid. So ironic now, the event that Bob Geldof organized introduced them to so many and probably broke them internationally. I was hooked on their early work, less so from Kick onwards though it's Kick and the following two albums that receive the most attention here. I would've liked to have heard more about the inspiration for the work on their earlier albums, though considering the way they were living probably not much surprise there isn't much recall, except for Kirk's well kept diaries.They were a force to be reckoned with during the Listen Like Thieves era, but I think they lost some of that when they graduated to big stadiums. The fame went to some member's heads, and there was a noticeable deteriorating effect on Michael after he had his brain trauma injury, growing increasingly erratic and unstable in public. It wasn't just the 'Tall Poppy Syndrome' that contributed to their downfall.Could have been done so much better.

This is a cute book but please note this is not paper that you can take the stickers on and off. It's regular paper.

Yeah, this is just a regular book that says stickers with a pretty cover. Disappointed in the purchase. Seriously could have made this myself.

The album is made of regular paper. It’s not a reusable sticker album. So once you place the sticker on the sheet, you can’t pull it off. I could have just given my daughter plain white because that’s all this album is.

these are great!!! was looking for a good sticker book that was not themed, but just the blank pages. up top the pages say my stickers. it's pretty cute and the kiddo loves! sticker books were such a great thing for me growing up and hard to find now, i was happy to come across this!!!

I really like this series...I read and listen through it periodically. This specific book is good too...for me it's where the story starts to get exciting again after a couple of books that kind of drag.I don't have a lot of time to sit and read, so I listen to a lot of books on Audible. This series is a treat for me because I have the books on Kindle and Audible, and they synchronize with each other. I can listen a while, then read a while, then listen again without losing my place.With this particular book in the series, I noticed that my Kindle version was not staying synced with my Audible version. So I opted to delete the Audible book and download the narration in the Kindle app. It's the same recording, but I figured since I was accessing both through the Kindle app, they would stay synched up better. For most of the book they have, though the word highlighting has been a few lines off from the narration for a good portion of the book...but that wasn't a huge deal. At least it got me to the right page page.But there are other problems. First, the narration periodically repeats a full sentence. It's a simple editing mistake, and mostly just annoying.Worst of all, a significant portion of the book is missing. Chapter 32, Chapter 33, and most of Chapter 34 are just not there. I hope that Amazon will fix this problem!

I love this series! It is my favorite fantasy series of all time. Sure some of the books are not as exciting as others but life is like that too. I am on my third reread of the series. In this reread, I am adding all of the books and their corresponding Whispersync Audible narration to my Kindle library.Why is there no narration available for this book? The series is 14 books long and 13 of the books have the Whispersync narration available. Come on, Amazon! Is this an oversight? Please add the narration so I can complete my Kindle library of these books.

The first five books pulled me into the world so quickly that I raved to all of my friends that they needed to pick up this series and read it immediately. Then I read the eighth and ninth book. I am dismayed that Jordan seems to care more about discribing minor set pieces than pushing a story forward, with the amount of pages in this book I expected something to happen. This point may be off topic but I'm also upset with audible/amazon that at my time of purchase this audiobook cost nearly 42 dollars, while the rest in the series were a maximum of 14.

This one was pretty great! I really enjoyed it, though it wasn't the best of them. There are some pretty ridiculous scenes and for some reason Mr. Jordan got into this habit of saying "Something really awesome is about to happen" then going to someone else and talking about their buttons and their soup for 20 pages. When you get back to the awesome thing, it's over and he says "Wowie, it was awesome, you should've been there, but those buttons and that soup was more important." Still this was a good one and I slammed through it. Now, book 10 is just outright torture. Did not like book 10 and almost gave it 2 stars; so enjoy this one. I hear books 11 and one are great.

Episode Nine didn't advance any particular story line, and the primary event, while significant to the story in that we may never have to read about the nauseating taint of Saidin again, if we ever hear it described for anyone other than the ever nauseated Rand Al'Vere.The book gives further credence to a personal theory that the "One Power" is actually a mental poison, that somehow makes people cruel, petty, and self centered unless threatened with personal violence or pain. This might be the author's commentary on what people are actually like in any social structure involving more than three people, but I seem to see some corollaries in the story line that people with honest threats to their life or livelihood tend to be friendlier and more honest. The Aes Sedai seem to be a fine collection of sociopathic megalomaniacs with a fashion fetish.I hope the story lines complete/converge/resolve at some point. At this point in the story, I can get a clear mental image of Leafblighter tapping his toe, checking his watch, sending texts to all his evil friends with notes of impatience.

"Winter's Heart" is the ninth book in the "Wheel of Time" series, and I enjoyed this one more than the previous. I thought this installment did a little better job of advancing the story arcs of the major characters -- mainly Rand, Mat, and Elayne; however, Perrin and Faile along with Egwene are largely skipped in this book. I think there are so many major and minor story arcs that Jordan struggled to allocate time to each to meaningfully progress them. There is still plenty of intrigue surrounding Cadsuane's role, and Jordan chose to introduce several new characters that I'm sure will have some play into the bigger picture.I again felt this book lacked a central conflict. Jordan spent the majority of the chapters on Mat's story arc, but he also spent about as much time on Elayne and Rand. I did enjoy the final chapter, which focused on Rand's desire to cleanse the taint from Saidin.The more I read of these books, it feels like the evil side of the story is not being told enough to get a feel for what the enemy is doing and planning. Jordan occasionally throws in a chapter for one of the Forsaken, but it seems like this is a bit underdeveloped to really understand what the enemy is doing. It also seems strange that we haven't seen much of the Trollocks and Myrdraals since book five.After investing time to read nine books in the series, I will press on. I'm really looking forward to the last three as I've heard Sanderson did a great job concluding this long series.
